ABSTRACT
The article offers information on the design of the University of Alaska Museum of the North by the University of Alaska in Fairbanks in cooperation of the HGA Architects and Engineers company and James Blair, which received the Merit Award for Excellence in Architecture for a Building Addition. The project serves as a symbol of the raw, powerful spirit of the state, despite being a campus landmark. It is aimed to double the building's size to 82,000 square feet and to capture the abundant spirit of the state by designing it with a new, dramatic architectural vision. The design is found to depict abstraction and openness to interpretation.
