ABSTRACT
The author discusses the keys to a successful leadership development program. The reasons behind the elusiveness of leadership includes the lack of universal definition for effective leadership and difference in the opinions on how to best lead others. The author says the program must be linked to strategic objectives and must consider the competencies and skills that need to be developed. The sources of learning that will be used and the process of obtaining feedback from others should also be considered.
