ABSTRACT
The author of this article presents his views on how the institute can deal with the fuel crisis that occurred in December 1999. The institute will be looking to provide the opportunity for key players to get together to consider the issues involved. He believes that the reaction to the crisis indicates very clearly how much more needs to be done to raise the profile of logistics and transport generally. However, there is a limit to what the institute can afford and sponsorship from the logistics and transport sectors is going to be essential if more is to be done. He believes that the crisis is a global concern that needs an international effort. The institute is committed to a period of investment to realize its ambitions for the future.
