ABSTRACT
The article examines the history and prevalence of child abuse in South Asia, A Buddhist story called Sopaka was taken into account. Under the Deuki system in Western Nepal, children and women were offered to the temple system to function as sex slaves. Neglect and child labor were among the different types of child abuse discussed. The use of child conscripts in Sri Lanka was pointed out as well as the actions taken by the government in ending the situation. Key information about child abuse is further presented.
