ABSTRACT
The article explores the multiple aspects of creating and maintaining a transparent and cost-effective relationship of employers with a pharmacy benefit manager (PBM). PBM usually offer clients some percentage of the rebates they gather and depending on the type of contract and how sophisticated the client is in negotiations, these amounts can range from 50% to 95%. The way a PBM handles rebates is one place where the traditional and transparent pass-through PBM models diverge.
