ABSTRACT
The article reflects on the reason why crimes are committed. It states that there is not a single answer why crimes are committed. Criminal behaviour is a complex mixture of a number of factors, including various levels of dysfunction in the individual and society as a whole. Stanton E. Samenow argues in his book "Inside the Criminal Mind" that factors such as poverty, divorce, and media violence do not cause criminality. An article in "Scientific American Mind" outlines various risk factors that might at least partially answer the question.
