The article reports that Korea's Core Logic needs a second wind from powering other handheld devices. Ki-soo Hwang was the founder of Core Logic in 1998. The company is now considered South Korea's largest semiconductor design house, but in its first year it almost went out of business. In 2002, it still had only $2 million a year in sales. Then Samsung Electronics and LG began snapping up his main product, an energy-saving chip that enables devices such as MP3 players to play music and embedded it in their most advanced cell phones.
