Ethernet Services Competition Heats Up

This article discusses information provided by Vertical Systems Group that suggests that leading Ethernet service providers have continued to hold strong market share. The top ranked provider was AT&T, with 19.5 percent share of mid-2007 ports. Verizon Business also saw a healthy gain in market share, from 12.2 percent at the end of 2006 to 15.8 percent in mid-2007. Cable multiple system operator (MSO) Cox Business garnered 8.9 percent of ports as of mid-2007. Additionally, Cox is followed by Cogent at 8.6% and Qwest, which fell to 8.4 percent from 9.9 percent at year end 2006.
