ABSTRACT
The article reports on a study comparing the diagnostic yield of Capsule Endoscopy (CE) and Push Enteroscopy (PE) when used first in patients referred for obscure gastrointestinal bleeding. A randomized controlled trial is being designed. The subjects selected had some specific clinical conditions. The results show that patients starting with CE may require the second test lesser than those with PE. First-line use of CE is concluded to have detected an absolute bleeding source in more patients.
