ABSTRACT
The article provides information on resources that journalists can use to find information about problems that may exist in their own communities in terms of safety issues and infrastructure. The U.S. Federal Railroad Administration publishes information about train accidents on its website going back to 1975. The U.S. Federal Highway Administration also provides information on bridge inspections, which is an alternative for journalists living in states that prefer not to disclose such information. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers no longer provides inspection data on dams in the U.S. for security reasons.
