Art Papers Magazine;May/Jun2001, Vol. 25 Issue 3, p6
The article reports on the construction of a 49,000-square-foot facility in downtown Macon, Georgia, by the Tubman African American Museum. The construction is conceived following the desire of the museum to recognize the importance of color and pattern in African American traditions. As described, the new building will be characterized by four-foot-high bands of alternating colors, echoing basket and textile weave patterns. Thomas Troller of E. Verner Johnson & Associates is the architect.
