ABSTRACT
The article profiles Anne Lauvergeon, head of Areva. Lauvergeon was responsible for the creation of Areva from the bickering factions of France's state-owned nuclear establishment, Cogema and Framatome. It was now the world's only one-stop nuclear shop, selling raw uranium ore, giant reactors, fuel reprocessing and waste storage. Under her leadership, Areva shares have increased, on average, 15% a year to a recent $941, giving the company a somewhat theoretical market value of $35.6 billion.
