ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the offering of Ask Joan of Art, a Smithsonian Museum of American Art's digital reference service in the U.S. According to the author, the Smithsonian's online resource was inaugurated in 1993, wherein they received 600 to 700 questions a day. Their Smithsonian's resources are available for public consultation, the inventories for American Painting and Sculpture, created by artists in the country with 11,000 photographs documented by Peter A. & Son Collection.
