ABSTRACT
This article discusses Information Technology (IT) and how two-thirds of the respondents in a recent survey described their intention to increase their IT staffs. The author contends that because competition for IT talent is increasing, a small increase in the number of people who leave can cause an immediate and negative impact on the organization involved. The problems associated with employee turnover can be managed by investing in the right retention programs. Compensation, career development, and work/life balance are the key reasons for turnover, revealing the need for companies to focus on retention.
