ABSTRACT
The article reports on an agreement to develop a proposed salt cavern storage facility at Stublach in Cheshire, England signed by French energy company Gaz de France (GdF) with chemical company Ineos Enterprises. GdF will take a 30-year lease on the facility and will invest £350 million in the construction of up to 28 caverns between 2013 to 2018. Ineos will create the caverns using solution mining, which involves injecting water into the underground salt deposits.
