ABSTRACT
The article presents information related to the chemical industry. The global olefins business is enjoying an unprecedented period of high operating rates, which is set to continue through 2008 before a move toward oversupply in 2009-2010. Also, a long period of low investment in butadiene (BD) extraction capacity, and derivative markets rejuvenated by the rapidly developing automotive industry in Asia has restored high operating rates and profitability to butadiene.
