ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the entry of oil company Petrobras SA into Brazil's liquefied natural gas market. It is noted that energy prices have increased by 150% for the domestic industry in Brazil in the five years prior to 2006. Petrobras is aiming at an immediate solution to a problem of lack of energy caused by increasing local demand. It is reported that the company is investing as much as $22 billion in natural gas exploration and development in Brazil between 2007 and 2011.
