ABSTRACT
The article focuses on PPG Industries Inc.'s plan to buy Europe's No. 2 coatings maker SigmaKalon for $3 billion. It is noted that the significantly earnings enhancing deal will create the world's largest coatings company, with annual sales of over $9 billion. According to BB&T Capital Markets analyst Frank Mitch the Dutch-based SigmaKalon fits very well with PPG's portfolio and should allow greater penetration into the faster-growing regions of Eastern Europe and Asia.
