ABSTRACT
The article discusses how lack of drum-level instrumentation installed in industrial plants may contribute to the rising incidence of boiler injuries and accidents. The American Society of Mechanical Engineers' (ASME's) International Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code requires direct and indirect level-indicating instruments installed in every manufactured power boiler. According to the article, an understanding of the applicable code requirements in a specific plant is needed to ensure safety in boiler rooms.
