ABSTRACT
The article reports that Great Barrington, Massachusetts-based Fairview Hospital has introduced local and organic foods to its menu, a farmers' market to its halls, a composting program, greener chemicals, hormone-free milk and fair trade coffee to its care. It is the first in the state to sign Healthcare Without Harm's Healthy Food in Health Care Pledge. In June 2007, the hospital broke ground on one of its most progressive undertakings--a vegetable garden on its own grounds.
