ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the growth of silicon wafer maker LDK Solar in Jiangxi Province, China. The upstart company's rocketlike rise is a symbol of China's growing presence in the solar industry. Its founder Xiaofeng Peng became China's richest solar entrepreneur in July 2007. LDK plants have the capacity to build enough silicon wafers to make solar cells that generate 300 megawatts of power.
