ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the renovation made by Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA) to the architectural design of the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel & Spa, located in Newport Beach, California. Calvin Dix, senior associate of the firm who is in charge of the design of the hotel, chose a palette of earth-toned colors to enhance the surrounding coastal setting. Quartzite was used as flooring throughout most of the public spaces of the structure.
