The article presents information on the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) of the U.S. National Guard Bureau. It is a new, unified regional combatant command in partnership with the European Command (EUCOM) scheduled to activate on September 30, 2008. According to Major General Frank J. Grass of EUCOM, the partnership with the National Guard Bureau helps the EUCOM Execute theater-security cooperation in ways that they could never touch with the other forces they have.
