The article focuses on representation of physicians in different centuries through a book or a play. It states that physicians were presented as arrogant and foolish in operatic stories set before the 19th century. Some of the operas are "Così fan tutte," "Elisir d'amore," "Wozzeck," and "Gianni Schicchi." In 1881, the play "Contes d'Hoffman," presented a character named "Dr. Miracle," who used to lure a young woman to do the one thing that will cause her health to fail. Another opera "The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat," by Michael Nyman came in 1986 and showed the physicians as humane healers.
