ABSTRACT
The article offers information regarding the consumption for raw milk in North America and a case exemplifying its health hazards. Raw milk is said to be a carrier of pathogens like Escherichia coli, Mycobacterium bovis, Listeria monocytogenes and species of Campylobacter. The case cited is that of a medical officer of health who received laboratory confirmed reports of contaminated milk sold at a local store of the area. It also refers to the measures that can be taken to prevent sale of such hazardous products like that of the Milk Act, 1965 and the Health Protection and Promotion Act, 1983.
