ABSTRACT
The article reports on the past history of Rock Hill, South Carolina-based firm Comporium Communications. The seeds of the firm were sown in the late 1880s by local businessmen interested in telephone. Andy R. Smith, president of Rock Hill Buggy Co., announced to build a telephone exchange in 1894. At the end of that year, Rock Hill Telephone Co. was in the market.
