The article presents information on merger and acquisition programs of various chemical substance manufacturing companies in the U.S. Ashland, Aceto and Hawkins Chemical Inc., are some of them. Univar Corp. has recently acquired Chemcentral Corp. for $650 million. John Hawkins, chief executive officer (CEO) of Hawkins Chemicals, says that they look at all the consolidation as an opportunity for smaller distributors like them.
