ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the impact of the U.S. debt market crisis on the global chemical mergers and acquisitions. The global chemical industry completed just $15 billion in deals in the first half of 2007 but has a 50-50 chance of breaking last year's record of $42 billion. As stated, the biggest potential casualties are the private equity deals that depend heavily on debt financing and in particular, high-yield public debt.
