The article reports that Chemplast Sanmar Ltd. had a net loss of Rs 1.38 crore for the fourth quarter of 2006-2007. This was attributed to a Rs 8-crore provision the company made against a disputed tax liability. It is noted that the company made a pretax profit of Rs 8.50 crore for the said quarter which was almost the same in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. The decrease in the net profit is said to be due to the non-receipt of compensation payment under the Montreal Protocol arrangement.
