ABSTRACT
The article reports on Valero Energy Corp.'s plan to become one of the most successful convenience-store retailers in the U.S. According to Gary Arthur, Valero's senior vice president of retail division, the company is focusing on and investing in store operations, while reducing administrative and staff overhead to become a successful convenience retailer. It is stated that to support its new-store plans, Valero is aggressively building up a real estate bank.
