This article focuses on the successful addition of the Gore-Tex membrane technology to ski-mountaineering boots. Gore-Tex is famous for preventing water from penetrating a shoe or garment from the outside, while allowing moisture from the inside to pass through. The principle behind the Gore-Tex technology added to ski boots is described.
