Rapid prototyping--shaping the future

This article focuses on the effort of French leather and footwear research center CTC to undertook a project that would examine the uses and opportunities for the further integration of rapid prototyping in the production of footwear. It discusses the reason for the emergence of the three-dimensional computer-aided design (CAD) as an essential tool in sports footwear production, and the processes involve in producing a prototype using rapid prototyping technologies.
