ABSTRACT
The article reports that the signing of three of the four main process packages included in the Ras al-Zour fertilizer complex planned by Saudi Arabian Mining Co. (Maaden) has highlighted the increasing project costs facing developers in the Gulf. The contracts totaled $1,500 million to cover the sulphuric acid, phosphoric acid and diammonia phosphate plants. It is said that the cost-reimbursable/convertible lump-sum model for contracts has often proved troublesome.
