ABSTRACT
This article reports on the treatment of epoprostenol for severe pulmonary hypertension. The average survival period with untreated idiopathic pulmonary hypertension is 2.8 years in adults and 10 months in children. Successful treatment with epoprostenol was reported for children in 1999 and for adults in 1996. A report from the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London has furnished details of all 39 children treated there with continuous intravenous epoprostenol between 1997 and 2005.
