ABSTRACT
The article discusses a study on the suggested treatment for persistent asthma. Low-dose inhaled corticosteroids (LDIC) is used as an initial maintenance therapy and is used as a step-down therapy in reducing the use of pharmacotherapy without increasing asthma symptomatology. It is recommended that the use of montelukast is associated with greater risk of failure in treatment rather than the once daily fluticasone+ salmeterol combination.
