ABSTRACT
The article reports on efforts by electronics manufacturers to add environment-friendly features to digital video recorders (DVRs) in 2007. DVR makers in the U.S. are developing energy-saving features such as auto shutoff to cut down on the appliances' electricity consumption. Product standards that prohibit the use of heavy metals and other chemicals in electronic devices are also implemented in Europe.
