ABSTRACT
The article reports on the first annual Tokyo International Great Quilt Festival which was held at the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan on January 24-30, 2002. The festival was participated by some 1,700 quilts including American quilts, works of international contemporary quilt artists such as Nancy Crow, Jonathan Shannon and Anne Woringer and some traditional piece works from Korea and Japan. The event was the largest quilt festival in Japan and in the world which drew over 245,000 visitors. The event was sponsored by the Japan Broadcasting Corp. (NHK) and "Yomiuri Shinbun" newspaper.
