The article reports on the plan of the D.C. United soccer team to build a stadium surrounded by mixed-use development at the Anacostia Park, Washington. According to the author, united owner Victor Macfarlane believes Poplar Point as a promising spot for a similar publicly financed venture with housing and retail. While, Marion Barry who serves the area on the D.C. Council initially opposed the project. Moreover, Yvette Barnes-Washington has stated that the citizens in Anacostia don't want it.
