The article reports that U.S. Senator John Edwards' deputy campaign manager Jonathan Prince senior adviser Joe Trip have defended Elizabeth Edwards's comments, by emphasizing that the latter was not being used as a "bulletproof cannon." Prince asserts that Elizabeth, who was diagnosed with breast cancer, is out there advocating on behalf of her husband.
