The article reports developments related to the state-by state firearms facts in the U.S. In Arizona, the Pink Pistols, a national group, has a Phoenix chapter whose members include a lesbian gunsmith and a gay retired cop. According to the chapter's founder Mike Shipley, self-defense is only part of the appeal of guns. In California, the Legal Community Against Violence (LCAV), a national gun-control group, was formed which was inspired by the massacre of a law firm in San Francisco, California by an angry client. In Colorado, after the 15 deaths in the 1999 Columbine High School shootings, voters approved a 2000 ballot measure requiring background checks on customers at gun shows.
