The article reports on the 6th Professor K. Venkataraman (KV) Memorial Lecture delivered by K. Nagarajan, corporate research and development (R&D) advisor of Hikal R&D Centre, at the National Chemical Laboratory (NCL) in Pune, India. He described the professor's work and how such work inspired his own work that led to the synthesis wedelolactone. He also explained the theoretical interactions of drugs, such as nimesulide and meloxicam, with cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and -2 (COX-2).
