ABSTRACT
The article reports on the passage of a resolution calling for the completion of a pharmacy residency as a prerequisite for all pharmacists who engage in direct patient care by 2020 by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists' (ASHP) house of delegates during the meeting held in San Francisco, California in June 2007. According to ASHP officials, the passage of the resolution will strengthen their bid for founding for postgraduate year 2 residencies from the government. Outgoing ASHP president Cynthia Brennan notes that the association is planning to work with the American Pharmacists Association and the American College of Clinical Pharmacy to submit a petition for ambulatory care to the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties. Other plans of ASHP are also mentioned.
