ABSTRACT
The article reports on the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services' (CMS) proposal of Medicare Part B payment rates and policies for physicians for 2008. The proposals include physicians should report hemoglobin or hematocrit data on claims for antianemia drugs for cancer patients, vendors must supply physicians with drugs under the competitive acquisition program (CAP), physicians must verify that the products ordered have been administered and drug makers must assign a proportionate value to each drug sold in bundles based on the dollar value of the units of each product when reporting their average sales price.
