ABSTRACT
The article reports that Walgreen Co. has able to reach an agreement to acquire specialty pharmacy operator Option Care Inc. for about $850 million in the U.S. Option offers a full range of specialty-pharmacy and home-infusion services from a national network of more than 100 pharmacies in 34 states. The company's services also include respiratory therapy and home medical equipment at some locations. The move by Walgreen Co. follows the competitor CVS Corp.'s acquisition of pharmacy benefit management firm Caremark Rx Inc. in March 2007.
