ABSTRACT
A list of classic war films that are full of anachronisms is presented. It includes "The Great Escape," in which Captain Virgil Hilts, played by Steve McQueen, flees German pursuers on a stolen motorcycle, a 1960s British Triumph 650. During the climactic tank battle in "Patton," the tanks being used on both sides are, ironically enough, early 1950s Patton tanks. In "Glory," the 54th Massachusetts regiment marches through a South Carolina burg while tourists gawk in the background.
