ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the participation of boat owner Andy Powers in Take a Vet Fishing Day, an event organized to give back to veterans who have served the U.S. He worked on his own boat to get it shipshape. Then he contacted a local paper and placed an advertisement, urging others to take veterans and active-duty military personnel fishing. He launched a Web site, takeavetfishing.org, to connect vets with boat owners, like Captain Anthony W. Reina of Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey.
