ABSTRACT
The article provides information on a study by Daniel Page of East Arkansas Community College in Forrest City, Arkansas, regarding the information retrieval benefits of creating catalogs in the local library environment that utilize relevant ranking algorithms. The subjects used in the study were 55 students of a community college who were given a three page survey to complete on an individual basis. The study found that relevancy ranking deserves consideration for each of those unique environments as one way to fulfill institutional missions that relate to the information retrieval process.
