The article presents tips for bale handling and storage to retain the quality and nutritional value of the feed inside. The number one rule in handling bales is to avoid damage from grass stubble by gently dispatching bales from the wrapper, followed by the use of a purpose-built bale handler or squeezer. Buckley adds that covering of any sharp edges with tarpaulin or matting when moving wrapped bale by trailer is also important.
