ABSTRACT
The article reports on the effectiveness of the Amber Alert child abduction alert system in the case of Mara Downes of Ramapo, New York who was snatched immediately after she got off her school bus and shoved into the trunk of a Toyota Camry. Due to the rapid posting of the alert, a woman spotted the Camry matching the description and reported it, leading to the girl's rescue.
