ABSTRACT
The article reports that volatility in the U.S. subprime residential mortgage loan market has resulted in business losses among investment banks that provide commercial real estate loans. The selloff of subprime-backed collateralized debt obligations (CDOs) and the subsequent price drop in commercial real estate CDOs have resulted in weakened bids for commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS).
